Właściciele ThinkFree poinformowali, że Google chce kupić ich sztandarowy produkt. Chodzi tu o obsługiwany za pomocą przeglądarki internetowej pakiet biurowy ThinkFree przez wielu nazywany klonem MS Office.
Baek Jong-jin szef Haansoft powiedział o rozmowach z Google:
“I met with Google Senior Vice President Elan Eustace last month and ThinkFree Corp. head Kang Tae-jin also held meetings twice, early this month and last week, with a Google team at its requests,’’
“Of note is that the Google team is not a business development team but a corporate development team that has been in charge of acquiring outfits such as YouTube,’’
“We hope to make a strategic alliance with Google, but the hitch is that the company does not like alliances. I heard it prefers to scoop up a company rather than cooperate with it,’’
“ThinkFree chief Kang plans to take a flight to the United States this week, and he may meet with Google officials there to discuss a deal,’’
